Happy Halloween Readers!

So I'm not typically a Halloween person but this year I'm having lots fun dressing up and spending time with fun friends :) Last night the bf and I went to a party as Ward and June Cleaver (my idea clearly).

Tonight is round two at the home of "have your cake and eat it too"--toinght's ensemble will remain a secret for now but I'll post pictures later. What is everyone dressing up as ??

Have fun and stay safe!

boo to you!

Job Hunt: Phase 1

So today I embark on my very first steps in the impending job hunt (graduation is less than 7 weeks away!). I'm attending an intern fair tonight, not looking to be an intern mind you but in the hopes my skills and charms will appeal so much to these employers, they will think to themselves: "I must hire her." In reality I accept tonight for what it is--networking. I will circulate my resume and hope that I can make some connections that could eventually lead somewhere. But I still dream of that lock eyes moment where someone will uncover my potential and hire me on the spot. We shall see.

Weekend Warrior

Hello Friends!

I went away for the weekend and feel like I've been away from the blog world for too long! I'm catching up on all your posts and trying to get into the swing of things this week.

My weekend getaway began with catching a heinous cold. Yup! I struggled through the weekend's activities in a fog of congestion and Mucinex D. But I was a trooper and we had fun none the less. The bf came along with me and the parents to visit sissy @ FSU. We hung out, ate WAY too much food and enjoyed the Noles' victory over the Hokies :) Here's a nice family pic from the weekend:

I hope you all had lovely weekends and I'll be checking in soon with more musings and halloween fun :)

P.S. Phillies are one game away--tonight could be the night :) Go Phillies!

"You like me, you really like me..."

A HUGE thank you to Amanda Dee for giving me this Kreativ Blogger Award--I'm so excited because it is my very first award/tag :) Read her blog if you don't already, she is real sweetheart! The only rules are to list six things that make me happy, and to pass it on to six others!I don't how I'm going to pick just 6 things, but enjoy:

Happiness

1. My family, bf, and friends: what's better than being with the people you love and who love you?!

2. Old Movies: I love watching old movies. Everyone is so lovely and gracious and has beautiful things. Nothing was overly complicated and there's almost always a happy ending :)

3. Traveling: Although today's airports are usually a giant headache and there is always traffic on the roadways, I love traveling(especially to see the noles play :) ! Even if its somewhere I've been a hundred times. Isn't just fun to get away sometimes?

4. Getting creative: I love crafting, monogramming and creating! It can be such a stress reliever and I love getting to see a finished product.

5. Getting lost in a good book: is anyone else ever sad when a book is over because you were so caught up in the characters and their lives? (i hope its not just me or else this makes me sound really lame)

6. Blogging: I love getting to know all of you fabulous preppy bloggers--I so enjoying sharing stories and nothing gets me excited like a comment in my inbox :)

I tag:
The Gifting Gumshoe
Ashley Brooke Designs
Lulu from the dirty martini diaries
The Laceys
A Belle and her Beau

Monogramming the non-monogrammable

Check out these new decals I got from Decal Monograms on etsy. I love personalizing such otherwise impersonal items :)In case anyone is confused by the different letters, I am one of those special people with a more formal given name that I never use unless it's for monogramming purposes and a nickname I've used every day of my life. Tricky.

Weekend Update

OK, so there is much to update you on. First! Thursday, the louandlee headband came and it is so adorable and fits like a comfy dream :) Check it out:
Friday I became a brunette, see above and my graduation announcements arrived which is tres exciting. So exciting I've addressed almost all of them already, so that in 3 or 4 weeks all I'll have to do is stuff the envelopes and send them out!!

On Saturday, I went to the Farmer's Market with my mom and sister and it was lovely. I bought a beautiful bunch of daisies which are now residing on my desk :) We also got some fresh fruits and veggies, ran into some good friends and enoyed some glorious weather.Saturday evening I headed over to the bf's to hang out, watch some football and do some pumpkin carving!! We combed the pumpkin patch at a local church for the perfect pumpkin and selected what I considered to be a real winner. After dinner we went online and looked up one of those cool patterns, deciding we wanted to be a little more creative than the traditional jack-o-lantern. We settled on a spider and did a pretty good job if I do say so myself :)Don't forget to enter my giveaway--you can enter until Tuesday. I'll probably close it around 10 pm on Tuesday so I can cut up all your comments and draw a winner and get the winner's info on Wednesday. I'm heading to Tallahassee on Thursday night for a fun filled weekend and I want to make sure the winner's luggage tags get mailed before I leave :)

First Giveaway!!

So from my reading, I know many of you have a few fall getaways planned, whether it's for a wedding or just a weekend away so for my first giveaway ever I'm giving away personalized luggage tags!! A set of 3 goes to the winner in their favorite color combination. I've posted a picture of one of my very own which is in brown and blue. I'll run the giveaway through Tuesday and reveal the winner on Wednesday! The winner can then contact me with their name and address and the colors they like so I can personalize the tags just for them :) To enter, post a comment to this post and tell me your favorite book of all time ( just so I can to know all my readers a little bit better!) Good Luck!

All things old are new again...

I got this cardigan the Christmas before last and it has really served me well. Its one of my favorite staples and when I pulled it out the other day I thought it needed a little something to spruce it up. So I took it in to the good 'ole Primrose Shop and voila! Instant makeover by adding a simple monogram :)

Never Nervous?

Let it be said, I, Miss Monogram have never been one to get particularly nervous in front of people. I'm not among the majority of Americans whose number one fear is public speaking. But I do have a big presentation tomorrow in my ad/pr campaigns class and I'm a little nervous. We have 3 presentations in this class and after presentation one, Prof. M had a chance to lay out her expectations so the pressure's on in presentation 2 :/ Wish me luck!

Also, I made the promise of my first giveaway and fully intend to follow through, probably sometime Friday, so be checking your blog roll!

That's Genius!

Not one to ever be in the know with technology, I have to rave for a second on the new iTunes feature, Genius. With this feature, you can pick a song from your library, click on the little genius button that looks like atoms or some other scientific nucleus type thing (can you tell I'm a communications major?) and presto! a playlist of 25 songs similar to the one you chose for your listening pleasure. Bonus, if you like the playlist genius creates you can save it to your iTunes. It's seriously the coolest thing-check it out!

everybody's workin' for the weekend

Hello lovelies! How was everyone's weekend? Mine was great! Spent all day Saturday with the bf hanging out and watching football. A perfect way to spend a Saturday if you ask me. We got tacos for lunch at this amazing hole in the wall/ roadside stand type establishment. Best tacos ever! I needed gas on the way back and we stopped at three, yes three, gas stations on the way home. Apparently an afternoon storm had thrown some of the debit/credit satellites off line ( I still don't understand this). But the third time was the charm. Then it was back home for some football watching- TX and OU & UGA and Tenn. For dinner we made a SUPER easy spicy shrimp pasta (only it wasn't very spicy at all). And finished off the evening watching UF v. LSU ( dang those gators!).

Sunday was great- came home after church and did some school work, met with my group for ad/pr campaign 2, and enjoyed desperate and brothers and sisters ( so glad justin didn't drink!)

Hope everyone's Monday is going well--stay tuned for information on my very first giveaway!!

I've been ma'am-ed

Today at work I was ma'am-ed. Now being raised in the south, I find manners and ma'ams and sirs very important. It has been drilled into me since I could speak. But seeing as how the girl who ma'am-ed me was all of 20- I mean for goodness sake we are peers- and how half the time people come into the store and ask "do you go to (insert local high school here)?" I would just like to ask the public if we could strike a happy medium between " i saw you cheering friday night" and "do you want to play bridge sometime?"

Thanks ever so much!

PS>>My late grandfather was a life long Phillies fan and seeing the Phillies in the playoffs warms my heart and brings back fond memories of my pawpaw who would be so excited to see his team right in the thick of things. They lead the series 2-0, so I'm keeping my fingers crossed they go all the way :) gooooo phillies!

Nothing beats a cup of Morning Joe

OK, so I know many of you are already Morning Joe watchers, but bear with me. I have been a loyal Today Show watcher for years. For no other reason than that's what mom and dad had on in the mornings growing up and it became a habit and who really likes change? But recently since I generally am up before 7 (ew.), I turn on MSNBC and watch a little Morning Joe with Joe Scarborough and company. And I am so in love with my new friends over there. They share my political philosophies and speak candidly about the reality of politics and the country even if doesn't always paint their party in the best light. And Joe is from north Florida, just like me!! So if you are looking for some current events in the morning give Morning Joe a try, I don't think you'll be sorry. ( And it's OK if you still switch over to the Today show occasionally for a looksie at Matt Lauer- I mean who could blame a girl?)

Three's A Crowd??

I'm looking to do a little re-vamp of the blog. Nothing drastic just want to spruce it up a bit. What do you think about the three columns? And I'm looking for info on editing my header so that the image I choose fills the whole space....any advice on blog design friends?

Service with a Smile

Happy Sunday! I hope everyone had a lovely weekend. Mine was exhausting but fun for sure. Friday I hung out with the bf for a little bit before babysitting Friday night ( I know, I am a party animal). Saturday was the big day, starting with Niceserve9 at Summit. This a service day my church does every quarter where we go and serve a over 30 locations in Orlando. This was my first time and it was really fun. My friends and I went to a rather depressed area of town and painted the interior and exterior of what wil become the community's chapel. It was hard work but it was fun and humbling to know we were making a difference. After all the hard work in the a.m., I headed over to Primrose for the afternoon shift. Needless to say, after a work-filled Saturday I retired early. Here are some pictures of the friends workin' hard. (P.S. for all my hard work this weekend, I treated myself to an adorable pair of booties today--I will post a picture later)

If anyone is looking to host any fall parties check out bff ABD's blog for her latest fall stationery designs. SUPER cute invites for halloween parties, pumpkin carving parties and Thanksgiving get togethers--check her out, she never disappoints :)

What state should you live in?

Another fun quiz from magnolia belle. What a coincidence that I'm already a Florida girl (and my second choice is Maryland and we all know how I feel about MD)

You Should Live in Florida

If you don't want to live in Florida, you might also consider:

Pumpkin Palooza!

Have you noticed as soon as the first fall leaves drop from the tree the world goes pumpkin crazy?!? You can get pumpkin lattes, pumpkin beer, even pumpkin milkshakes (yes, i saw this advertised first hand on my way home today). Don't get me wrong I have nothing against pumpkins (in fact pumpkin beer is something i recommend you try), I was just racking my brain today trying to think if there is another time of year that inspires such an obsession with flavor. I mean we don't go bonkers for egg flavored delicacies at Easter do we? Just a thought....

Check out my new hand-painted tray that finally came in to Primrose today!! I ordered this at market in July and I'm so excited I finally got it. It's a piece by Ann Marie Murray who does beautiful hand-painted trays, etc. Many of the painters on her team were former artists employed by Heron. In case you can't see, the letter sticking out of the envelope has my monogram on it :)
Vice Presidential debate tomorrow--get excited!! I can't wait to see what unfolds and I do hope Jim Lehrer is not the moderator because I wasn't a fan during the first presidential debate. And although everyone is worried about the economy, I do hope they give adequate airtime to those issues that will still be around, long after the stock market has recovered.

Happy Hump Day!
