Sassy Saucy Eggs

This was dinner last night (and breakfast this morning-lol). It's one of my favorite comfort food dishes so I thought I'd share the recipe with you :)

Sauce:
1 Tablespoon Butter
1 Teaspoon Flour
3/4 cup milk
salt and pepper

Make a roux. Slowly add milk stirring constantly until smooth. Season and remove from heat.

Eggs:
1 cup cooked chopped broccoli
1 small onion chopped and sauteed ( I don't do onion but feel free)
1/2 lb Bacon crumbled
1 cup grated cheese
10 lightly scrambled eggs

Layer broccoli on bottom of buttered 9 x 13 pan. Top with onions, then bacon, abot 1/2 of the cheese, then the eggs. Top with sauce then add remaining cheese. Sprinkle with paprika and bake at 350 till heated through, about 15-20 minutes.

Enjoy!

Thanks for following!ll

I now have over 100 followers! Thank you so much to all of you who read my musings. I think we were all surprised to find such a wonderful community when we started blogging and I am no different. I never thought I'd have such great blog friends and readers--thanks again :)

I hope you all had a great weekend. Yesterday was lovely, relaxing and topped off with a fun BBQ hosted by Ky and Bobby. Today church and lunch with the usual suspects and trying to take a nap to get rid of this cold! That didn't go so well but hopefully tonight will yield a good night's rest.

Happy Sunday!

Marriage licenses at a discount?

Currently in the state of FL, a marriage license costs $93.50 and if you participate in 4 hours of pre-marital counseling you get a discounted rate of $61.00. Apparently the 32.50 saved is not enough of discount as many couples are not bothering to take advantage of the lower rate. Consequently there is a proposed bill that would raise the cost of the license to 193.50 and give a discount of 132.50 for 8 hours of pre-marital counseling. The cost of the license is still the same if you engage in counseling ($61) but the economic benefit is greater if the new bill passes because it would be so much more expensive should you for-go counseling and the amount of counseling required goes up.

I thought this was really interesting and wanted to know what your reactions are! I feel like pre-marital counseling is often a requirement if you want to be married in a church or by certain pastors so it makes sense to me, but obviously there are lots of people currently not getting pre-marital counseling, so would the new law punish these people?

Food for thought today people, let me know what you think :)

Skin Deep

OK girls. I am on day 6 of a new skin care regime. I was using Proactiv but I had run out and needed some new stuff and let's face it, when you have to order something online and wait for it to be delivered, especially something like face wash, it is less than convenient. Well when bff S was here she was telling me about Acne-Free. Her roommates use it and she said its just like Proactiv with the three steps but it's less expensive and it's at drugstores. So think of it as the generic to Proactiv. So far it is working great! I really like it and it is VERY similar to the Proactiv products, so if you are looking for a less costly alternative (Acne-Free is about $20, while Proactiv is about $40 I think) or need to try something different, check it out!

Happy Tuesday!

Go see Duplicity!

Saw this movie on Saturday night and if you like Ocean's Eleven, you'll like Duplicity. It's a witty spy caper with likeable characters and a twisting and fast paced plot. Go enjoy some Julia and Clive :)

P.S.: You can totally spy Julia's baby bump cleverly hidden with trench coats and figure friendly dresses. She was clearly pregnant with baby Henry when this was filmed.

Its been too long.

Hiiiii!

I certainly have been remiss in my posting this week girls and I have lots of your lovely thoughts in my reader to catch up on. But its been a big week around here.

The early part of the week was filled with work and then Thursday and Friday were quite the whirlwind

Thursday, bff S's spring break cruise stopped in nearby Port Canaveral and I went and picked her up and we spent a glorious day together! We beached it, had lunch, came home and hung out and had dinner with the family! It was so great to have her visit even though it was super short and we were both sad on the way back to the boat--May is only two months away and I have a feeling we'll be reuniting then so I am already looking forward to it!

You may be wondering why sister was home seeing as she just finished her spring break. Well yesterday was Mumsie's birthday! And we spent it at Disney World! My mom loves Disney and since it was her birthday she got in free and got a happy birthday button and everyone at Disney is so nice they were all sending birthday wishes her way. It was a great family day and Lukey made it easier for me to enjoy myself by taking care of Stella at his house for the day :)
coco and the birthday mumsie herself!

I'm off to work on my traffic school--trying to avoid those points on the license. More posts to come tonight and tomorrow on a couple of fun things.

P.S: Thank you Lou Lou for my postcard!! It was so sweet and made my day :)

Recap of the birthday and rest of the weekend

Spent two glorious days here:
Here's the beer basket I made (again, let me know if it was you who posted on this originally--I think it was Muffy or Mrs. Mojito). It was a big hit with Lukey (who I think needs a blog moniker, any suggestions?) and the friends:
We celebrated L's birthday Thursday night with the parents and here we are after dinner:

The restaurant's outdoor seating area is so beautiful, complete with trees, plants and fairy lights!

Thursday night our friends came up and we hung out at the beach on Friday and finished the day with a late lunch on the beach:

I hope you all had great weekends and are ready to start your week off fabulous-ly :)

Starting the weekend a little early...

Hi friends!

Tomorrow is the BF's birthday, so I'm heading to New Smyrna Beach today to his family's beach house. Should be a fun couple of days! He didn't want anything for his birthday of course, leaving me to fend for myself. So I took a little inspiration from my lovely bloggers. (Forgive me, because I read this on someone's blog but can't remember exactly who it was. I think it was Mrs. Mojito but I can't find the post! Please let me know so I can give proper credit) I decided to put together a beer basket with twelve different kinds of beer and include a book with info about the different brews! BF is on spring break so I thought it was the perfect occasion for such a gift (pictures to come)

I'll take some pictures as we are going to one of my favorite restaurants tonight to celebrate and they have a beautiful garden perfect for picture taking!

I loved seeing all you lovelies on Martha! I have it TIVO-ed and I watched the first half and saw Mermaid and Kate from Nautical by Nature. I am eager to watch the rest and see who else I can spot :)

I'll be back tomorrow night--until then girls.

I need help with labels!

Question:

I want to start labeling my posts. The two posts I've labeled, have the labels I assign which you can click on BUT there are two other labels that you can't click on, that have appeared everytime I label. It's like some kind of default label that goes on all of them. How did these get there and does anyone know how to get rid of them?

Refer to last post "Let's Talk Tuesday" and notice that j.crew, bathing suit, and target are all clickable labels but that Maddie and Ashley Brooke Designs are listed as well and cannot be clicked on. I want to figure out how Ashley Brooke Designs and Maddie got there b/c I didn't add those.

Thank you!

Let's Talk Tuesday

Hi!

I hope everyone is having a terrific tuesday! I have the day off today so my Tuesday has been fab. I ran some errands this morning with mumsy and sissy and got a new bathing suit from Target! This picture doesn't do it justice in my opinion, it's really cute and I feel like the pic is strange, but you get the idea (apparently I was jipped because I didn't get a halter strap, mine's just strapless, oh well, I think I like it better anyway)

I also found out today that next week when BFF S comes into town, via her spring break cruise, she gets in at 8am and doesn't have to be back on the boat until 11pm!!! This gives us so much more time than I thought we had. Consequently, I think a little shopping on Park Ave. in WP might be in order after the beach in the morning :)

I loved seeing Melissa on DWTS--she was so good and could def. become a front runner in the weeks ahead! AI is on tonight and I am so glad they made it 13 and took Anoop :)

In other news, I am getting ready to put some J.Crew shorts on Ebay and thought I'd offer them up to my blog readers first. Details: blue and white seersucker; size 2 city fit; in super great shape. Email me if you are interested :)

P.S. Everyone going to the Lilly meet-up tonight--have fun! Can't wait to watch martha tomorrow :)

My Spring Forward Weekend

Readers!

I'm coming to you finally somewhat rested after a whirlwind weekend. Sister arrived home friday night and after dinner she was pretty pooped from the drive. I went to some friends' house for a little soiree they were having and didn't get home and to bed until WAY passed my bedtime. I got about 5 hours of sleep before I was up and getting ready to head to the beach! Saturday was beautiful but after a long night and a long day in the sun, I was exhausted. Sunday, as many of you know, was baseball day! Our seats were AMAZING, right behind home plate and it could not have been a nicer day, except the Phillies lost (boo). When the game was over, Lukey and I headed home to enjoy some BBQ with mom, dad, and coco! I am also happy to report after a day at the beach and a day at the ballpark, I am sporting the beginnings of tan ;)

Here are some pictures from the weekend--enjoy.

Come Sunday...

I'll be here:

Wearing this:
That's right, bf and I will be taking in a little spring training baseball on Sunday!! We are going to see the Phillies vs. Braves. I'll be in the Phillies tee that you see above in honor of my PawPaw who was a HUGE Phillies fan. And Sunday would have been his birthday so how perfect is that? I'm so excited since I haven't been to a professional baseball game in ages! Having lived in Baltimore nothing tops Camden Yards for me, but I am more than happy to take in the beautiful weather with BF, eat a hot dog and root on those Phillies! Obvi, I'll be taking lots of pictures and sharing those with you fab readers :)

Updates to the blog and the end of a silly day.

Today was a silly day. Do you ever have a day when you feel like you can't do anything right? Today was that day for me. Work was filled with snags and fires to put out--I'm happy to be home, that's for sure.

I updated the blog with a new "find of the week" feature on the left. Every week I am going to post a great preppy or personalized gift. I'd love input from my readers so email me if you have something you'd like me to feature. I also added my twitter updates on the right. I've had twitter for awhile now, but my user name is not Miss Monogram so many of you probably didn't know I was tweeting! Feel free to follow :)

Lastly, my cousin is have a lump in his throat biopsied tomorrow, so please pray that it is nothing serious!! I'm always so amazed at the power of prayer in our little community and hopefully this will be another success story.

Bachelor Recap

OK. We all knew it was coming.

But that didn't change that fact that when he picked Melissa and everyone was so happy, I was hopeful. I though maybe reality steve got it wrong.

Alas, he was not wrong.

Jason weaseled and cried his way through the after the rose, to dump and publicly humiliate Melissa. She called him a bastard (which was great) and exited gracefully to the limo. Enter Molly who goes on to Chris (who by the way, LOVES the drama--I'm convinced he's all about it) about how she wished Jason would call her and say he made the wrong choice (huh, that's funny--wait about 10 minutes, he's coming). Jason comes out and confesses to Molly how he can't stop thinking about her, wants to give it "a shot." Molly, to her credit, does look dumbstruck, I kept waiting for her to ask "am I being punked?"

If Jason decided he couldn't, for whatever reason, be with Melissa, he did not have to dump her on TV!! That's just mean and disrespectful--I think the producers caught wind of the fact things weren't going well and made him do it on the show. I also think when he rejected Molly and she kept telling him he made a mistake like a thousand times, it totally messed with his head.

Girls, I am anxiously awaiting your recaps. What did you think???

oh weekend, why must you leave me?

Here's where I make all my northern readers jealous. But let me preface this by saying that I do wish, for those of you expecting snow, that I was where you are tonight. I used to live in Baltimore and the anticipation of snow was always so fun, like Christmas Eve. But I live in Florida and that means that although it was February 28, the bf and I headed to the beach, because that's what you do in Florida in February. It really was beautiful and it was nice spending the whole day with my lukey :)

Friday night we went to a volunteer appreciation dinner at church for all the people who volunteer with the children's ministry. Afterwards we met up with some friends to celebrate A's birthday. Needless to say it was a really fun night.

Here's a sound bite from one of my sunday school-ers today.

Miss M: ok class we are going to play copycat, watch me closely and do what I do (Miss M puts her hands on her head)

3 year old w/ hair gel: I can't put my hands on my head, it will mess up my hair.
