The Happiest Place on Earth at the Most Wonderful Time of the Year

Sunday, the bf and I went to the one and only Disney World! Although the post-holiday crowds were little overwhelming we had a great time. Some of the highlights included Pirates of the Caribbean, Haunted Mansion, the Spectro Magic parade and the fireworks! Here are some photos for your enjoyment :)

developments...

So yesterday I went to one of the places where I applied for a job. One of my professors hooked me up with one of her former students, D, who currently works there and she was sweet enough to show me around and introduce me to all the important players. I met the guy who will be making the decision about the job and left my resume with him. D said I made a good impression and she would keep me posted if she heard anything. I haven't even been asked to interview yet but I feel really good about the visit. I' d be lucky to work there!

Today was the Wheels for Kids bike giveaway--it was so fun seeing the kids get these bikes and what an impact this program has made already. The schools for these kids were previously "F" rated schools but since this program, which has increased attendance, both the elementary and middle school are "A" schools!! We had two news teams come and cover which made very happy and I'm tivo-ing the 5 and 6 o'clock news hoping to capture the clip :)

Here are some pictures of Santa arriving and our media successes!

Merry Christmas Eve Eve! I'll post more pictures of Stella and Christmas cookies and packages later :)

making things happen

Today I worked a PR event in conjuction with my internship that ended a few weeks ago. Patty Sheehan, one of the city comissioners gives bikes away to underprivileged kids at Christmas. There is a housing project in her district and school attendance from the kids there was very low. Come to find out they couldn't get to school so the names of kids in that community are compiled and bikes are given to the kids each year so they can get to school (the lists are rotated so that the kids get a new bike about every other year, perfect since they are all growing up so fast). This is the 7th year and the project is a great success.

Today was the bike build. We take the bikes to a local fire station and firefighters assemble all the bikes. My job was to follow up with media to see who was coming out to cover the event as its a feel good holiday event the newsies are interested in this time of year. Lo and behold, we got 2 TV stations!! I was so excited. It's so fun to see a project come together and be successful. We got some of our sponsors on camera interviewing with the reporters and lots of footage of the firefighters building away and I got to be part of making that happen! Next Tuesday is the day we actually give away the bikes so I'll be sure and let you know how it goes.

Hooray for a good day--hope your Thursdays were fabulous :)

Back in Action

Hello friends,

Contrary to popular belief, I am alive and well. Things have been crazy around here lately. Between Stella's arrival and Graduation, I'm one tired girl. Here's a recap of what's been happening.

You've seen Stella and know she came last Wednesday--she is such a joy and I love her more everyday. She had her first vet visit on Friday and she was a trooper.

Saturday night, mom, coco and I went to the Carrie Underwood concert and it was fantastic!! Little Big Town opened and they were so awesome. Carrie was a great performer and I enjoyed getting to know LBT a little better since I didn't know much about them before.

Sunday the grandparents arrived and the bf came to see his new child (aka Stella). We had a nice family dinner and went around looking at Christmas lights.

Monday was the big day!! Graduation was great. Some people don't walk and I just don't know why, it was really exciting and I'm not sure it would have felt real if I hadn't walked across that stage ( I'm still not sure its completely sunk in yet either though).

Its back to work this week. I'm so looking forward to Christmas and all the festivities leading up to it! I think some baking will be in order this week--I'm also working on an awesome project with my former internship employer, that provides bikes to underprivileged kids for Christmas. The first event in Thursday, I'll be sure and let you know all about it.

Best. Day. Ever

Yesterday I got the best surprise.

The bf came over to hang out and it was my last day of classes/exams (ever!), so it was an exciting day. He's shows up with a video camera in hand and graduation gifts. I'm quite surprised and wondering why I'm getting the gifts today and not on graduation. So he has me open the first box, (all while he video tapes me, which I just don't understand) and its a blindfold and he tells me my gift couldn't be wrapped so I needed to put on the mask and wait for him to bring it. So I'm racking my brain as to what it could be and I'm at a total loss, honestly, I couldn't imagine what in the world he was bringing out. He came back and told me to take off the blind fold and this was what I saw:A dachshund puppy!! I immediately started bawling because I was so shocked and excited. I've been wanting a dog for awhile and the bf always says I don't need one, its too much responsibility, etc. So you can imagine why I would never have thought this was the surprise.

Her name is Stella Jane and she is the sweetest thing. Aunt Ashley already got her a monogrammed dog tag so she's well on her way to being super stylish. I'm on my way to becoming a recluse because I absolutely hate leaving the house and being away from her, but so far she likes her crate and she's been very well behaved.

Here's another picture of her--I'm sure there will be more to come!

two more days!

Lovelies! Two more days until school is OVER. Really over. I promise to return to you a more committed blogger as these last few weeks have really isolated me blog-land, much to my chagrin!

Stay tuned for monogrammed monday later tonight :)
