Wedding Wednesday: DIY and Collecting

Good Morning!

At this point in our wedding planning (164 days to go), I like to say I'm "collecting things."  With all our vendors secured and many of those large decisions made, I'm in the land of collecting and making copious lists.  As I've shared with you before, Mason jars and milk glass are two stars of our reception show.  So I thought I'd share the pile with you (which is a small sample since most of the milk glass is at LAS' parents house).

mason jars, mugs, milk glass, burlap...the gang's all here!

I also picked up some materials on Monday for a DIY that will probably have to wait until a little closer to the big day.  Anyone make moss covered letters for their wedding? How do they hold up?

Ohhh I can't wait to see how your moss letters turn out and hear your report on difficulty. I'm dying for a big H on my front door. I've been looking at them on Etsy since before our wedding. And I was in the middle of commenting yesterday and Blogger decided to shut down... I'm also so glad you will be sporting white jeans well into the Fall :) xx, Nina

Nina! I will totes let you know how the moss letters go, an H would be so perfect on your front door--I'm sure you could do it! And I love all the wearing white after labor day girls...nothing wrong with that at all :) xx

Coco: I knew those photos would cause such a comment ;) xoxo

I'm crazy about all depression-era glass, so I'm wild to see how your milk glass comes out. If I'd have been really savvy, I would have loved vaseline glass at our wedding, but thought that going black light with them might take our wedding from 'unique' to 'Vegas tack.'

See you in less than a week!!

i made moss letters for my wedding in june of '09, using the same moss you have pictured here, and they are still looking lovely over a year later (in my attic, no less)! my aunt cut the letters out of foam and hot-glued the moss straight to the foam. it was pretty quick and easy! we used clear plastic over-door wreath holders to put them on the reception doors (no nails allowed), and we covered the holders with ribbon. check out a picture about halfway down this post: http://stonesgatheringmoss.blogspot.com/2010/06/6-20-09.html

I made a massive H (4-5 feet) for my wedding reception. I made it a few weeks in advance, then wrapped it in black garbage bags and stored it in the basement since it was cool and dark. I wish I had kept it, but I don't have a clue what happened to it after the reception! If you need any pictures or tips, just let me know!
