Recipe: BBQ Shrimp Tacos w/ Chili-Lime Slaw

This was an impromptu meal I made last week in an effort to use up some shrimp I had in the freezer.  I love it when a stroke of creativity turns out to be this delicious!

Recipe: Saute shrimp in 1-2 tablespoons of BBQ sauce (until shrimp are pink...maybe 5 minutes) // I used a package of broccoli slaw and whipped up a dressing consisting of a few dollops of mayo, the juice of half a lime, 2 T of chili powder, salt + pepper // Top your favorite corn or flour tortilla with a few shrimp and some chili-lime slaw....perfect, light summer dinner.

Recipe for the Weekend: Olympic Fever

Happy Friday! This weekend is all about All-American food, drink, and cheering on team USA.  I started blogging at the start of the 2008 Olympics, so this also marks the 4 year anniversary of my blog. Cheers all around.  I can't wait for the Opening Ceremony tonight and lots of competition over the weekend.

I posted this photo on instagram yesterday and a few of you asked how to tie the headscarf, style it, etc. so I shot a little video to demonstrate...enjoy!

Skirt DIY

For Christmas I got a sewing machine and I've used to it to do a little mending and create a few little projects here and there but I really wanted to create something wearable.  So I found this Etsy tutorial on Pinterest, went to Wal Mart (yes, Wal Mart {shudders}), got supplies and got to sewing!  Not too bad, right?! You may also recognize this skirt from my 4th of July look.  And believe me, if I can make a skirt that can actually be worn...so can you!
