Emmy Favorites

Good Morning!

How great were the Emmys?  I've been a sucker for a good award show since I was a child, LAS is unsure as to what exactly is entertaining about such shows but I assure him he is missing out.

Like Erin, at Elements of Style Blog, I felt as though there were lots of near misses last night...I liked your hair but not your dress, your earrings but not your hair.  So while there were lots of great looks here are some of my favorites head to toe:

Lea Michelle: Birthday girl and looking lovely in Oscar de la Renta.  She was divine and so sweet to everyone interviewing her on the red carpet.

Amy Poehler: This woman had a baby 3 weeks ago! She looks fantastic!  I've never had a baby and not sure I could pull it together like that!

Claire Danes: If I was giving a best dressed award, Claire would win.  I think she gets better looking as she gets older.

Jane Krakowski: Navy was a big trend last night! (WOO HOO bridesmaids...you're right on target!) I love the metallic hints to the dress and the shape and structure of her gown--she's adorable to boot! Love her!

Lastly, my friend Jade is a brilliant writer and has entered an essay in a content.  Click here to read it and vote for her!

Monogrammed Monday: My Custom Yoga Mat

(I did not receive payment or product in exchange for this post)

Last week I got an email from Marce at My Custom Yoga Mat.  She was inquiring about our Monogrammed Monday feature and shared her adorable product with me!  I immediately went to the website and fell in love with these mats!

Marce and her friend Allison have created a site where you can customize your own yoga mat.  Aside from the great monogram, thread color and mat color choices, the mats come adorably wrapped and you don't have to be a yogi to enjoy one!  They are perfect for other forms of exercise, like sit-ups, push-ups, weight training, etc.  I even thought it would be great for kids as an activity mat for play-doh, painting, etc.

The mats are a reasonable $35.00 and will arrive to you in about 10 days.  There are 20 yoga mat colors, 18 embroidery thread colors and 5 fonts--so it's quite easy to make your mat your own!

Be sure and check-out MyCustomYogaMat.com where you can preview your creation before you purchase! (Just be sure and type your initials as you'd like them to appear, not in order first, middle, last necessarily)

Thanks Marce, for introducing my readers to such an adorable monogrammed item!

What's in a Name?

Good morning!

Because the topics on this blog range from food to crafts to the occasional monogram, I've been thinking about a name change.  I already have the new name in mind and it includes my name.  What do you think about a switch?  Would you follow me to a new URL?  Would it be confusing?  Let me know your thoughts!

Wedding Wednesday: Save the Dates

Some of you may have seen these yesterday on the Ashley Brooke Designs blog, but I couldn't very well post such a key piece of wedding paraphernalia on Tuesday, when it was so perfect for Wedding Wednesday!
Ashley has done such an amazing job on all of our wedding paper and the Save the Dates set exactly the right tone for what our guests can expect for our invitations and our wedding!  I'm so fortunate to not only have Ashley as my stationer and employer but as a BFF as well, she is such an exceptional friend.  Thanks for all your hard work Ash! xoxo.

Swoon-Worthy Friday: Seminole Football

There isn't much that gets me as excited as another year of FSU football.  The sights, the sounds, the smells, I love it all!  Football has always been more than just a game in our house and FSU, more than just a school.  LAS and I are already prepping for our first trip up and can't wait to take it all in!  Things are bound to feel a little different with a new coach at the helm but I still can't wait to cheer on the garnet and gold.  Go Noles!

Getting Back in the Game & Our Coffee Table

Good morning!  Every feel out of your groove?  Like you just aren't doing the things you'd like to be doing or normally do?  I don't know if it's wedding related, work related, or simply lazy summertime,  but lately I have not been doing some of the things I love to do.  Like cooking or reading or baking, even my wedding planning has hit a plateau (brides know what I mean, you get to that place where there aren't super urgent tasks to be done).  But no more! I am using this back to school, Fall-ish atmosphere in the air to get back at it and become a little more me...first up, baking scones and making a delicious dinner tonight!

In other news, last weekend after a beach trip, I popped into a local antique store and found this delightful surprise:
Readers: our new coffee table, new coffee table: my readers.  Now our little diamond in the rough needs some cleaning and a nice piece of glass on top, but once that's done, vintage, uber-fabulous coffee table here we come! Did I mention is was made in the 1800s? ;)

Wedding Wednesday

Today marks 6 months until our wedding!! Hooray! This weekend we'll be looking for LAS' wedding attire and to those of you who were so helpful on twitter when I posed the question about what type of suit/tux the guys should wear since the girls are in navy--thank you for all your help and suggestions!

Happy Wednesday!

Happy Tuesday!

Good morning! Baby sister goes back to school today and I have to miss it because apparently I became an adult somewhere along the way and have to work all day--booooo.  Even though she and my parents will be slinging furniture and boxes in the 107 heat, I still feel like I'm missing out.

Have guys been on stumble upon? Basically you enter your interest and hit the stumble button and it brings you to all these great sties that coorespond with your interests.  Yesterday I was stumbling (haha) and found this adorable (and recently posted) craft for your kitchen.  I know a lot of you out there are menu planners and this would be a perfect addition to your kitchen!  I definitely think LAS and I should add this to our abode in the not so distant future.

Thanks Stumble Upon for introducing me to makeandtakes.com!

Wedding Wednesday: Place Cards

Good Morning Beauties!

Happy Wedding Wednesday!  LAS and I will tie the knot 191 days from today--SO excited!  We are having a cocktail style reception so we really have no need for place cards.  But I tucked this photo in my wedding folder long ago and I think it's a great piece of inspiration for those of you who need a way to display place cards or escort cards.

I love the use of fresh fruit in floral and decor for a wedding and you could easily substitute an apple, lemon or lime for these clementines!

Have a great Wednesday!

John Derian for Target

I don't know about you but I've been devouring the new edition of Lonny this morning.   It was an inspiring addition to my inbox!

Betwixt the pages is a sneak preview of John Derian's new collection for Target and I am loving his pieces--particularly the silhouette coasters.  I love a silhouette and they may or may not make an appearance in some of our wedding paper....

Enjoy this sneak peek--John Derian for Target hits stores September 5

Monogrammed Monday & Updates

Good Morning!!

Yesterday I finally purchased our headboard fabric--did you vote on this post?  Well LAS and I selected the one that so many of you loved too:

Next up will be adding a navy monogram and gathering all the supplies to build the headboard!

This is the part where I put out an all call for monogrammed treasures!  Since we all know how I feel about the uber-personal touches monograms provide, I'd like to make every Monday Monogrammed Monday. But I need your help.  If you have a monogrammed store or like me are an avid "collector" of sorts of all things monogrammed, please send me a photo of your favorite monogram or monogrammed item and we'll feature it on Mondays! Send your photos to missmonogram@gmail.com

Cheers to a great Monday!

Swoon-Worthy Friday: Cake Stands

I love cake stands.  After watching the oh so fabulous Ashley Brooke include some in a new design this week, I realized how beautiful they can be: architectural, dainty, practical, decorative.  They are just a pretty on display as they are holding a yummy cake. My mom found us one for our wedding cake a local antique shop and I can't wait to see our yummy confection sitting a-top it on the big day!  If you are a bride or throwing a shower or party, look for a neat cake stand to feature a cake, cupcakes or to use as a decor piece.  You can easily find an affordable one and it will be a neat detail at your event!

Mito Murfee Scarf from Lilly Pulitzer

I love the Lilly Pulitzer Murfee scarves!!  And now there is one with a cause.  Lilly Pulitzer and In the Pink, a Lilly Pulitzer Via Shop, have partnered with MitoAction.org to create a custom-designed Murfee scarf to benefit children and adults diagnosed with mitochondrial disease. The partnership was inspired by Gordon Russell, owner of In the Pink, whose late wife Sandra K. Russell lost her battle to mitochondrial disease in 2008. Mitochondrial disease is a non-curable, life-threatening condition in which a patient’s energy is depleted due to dysfunctional cells.

In honor of Sandra's memory, this new scarf has an image of the human genome embedded in a classic bright colorful print!  The Mito Murfee is available exclusively at In the Pink stores and online at http://shop.inthepinkonline.com/. One hundred percent of the net proceeds from this limited edition scarf will benefit New England-based nonprofit MitoAction as they work to improve the quality of life for patients and families living with “Mito.”

So if you are looking to pick up a great gift or something pretty for yourself, grab a Mito Murfee from In the Pink and contribute to a great cause!! The best part is the scarf is absolutely adorable!
