Saving the Date

Yesterday I came home from work to find a piece of mail waiting for me that I was particularly excited to receive. My save the date card from bff Ashley of Ashley Brooke Designs for her upcoming wedding. I only wish I had saved and photographed the envelope too because it was just as beautiful as what was inside. Here's a peek, and yes, Ashley designed her own Save the Date because yes, as we both know she's just that talented!

The Oscars, The Grammy's and The Bloggies

Recently I have been the very fortunate recipient of a few awards from my delightful readers. Susan in the South and Plan Acourtingly bestowed this little gem on me:

1. List 7 things that make you Awe-Summm
2. Pass the award onto 7 bloggers that you love
3. Tag those bloggers to let them know they are now Queens too (and link back to the Queen who tagged you)

Seven Things That Make Me Awe-Summm:

1. I will not hesitate to put a monogram on just about anything: jeans, my cell phone, a cardi.
2. As one may surmise from the #1, I am a girl's girl, however, when it comes to football I can be quite the guy's girl. Being raised in the South, college football is king. When other parents were trying to teach their children the ABC's, mine taught me all the referee football signals. No, this is not a joke. (Go Noles!)
3. I have the same boyfriend I had when I was 16 (does this make me awesome or him awesome? hmm.)
4. I love old movies and television shows. If you need a recommendation, I'm your girl.
5. Love the fam, we are super duper close.
6. I live to be organized--I'm never without a planner.
7. I'm lusting over the iPhone--I do believe when my upgrade comes around in about 3 weeks, I'm going to take the plunge. Here's hoping I have a "real job" by then.

Ky @ Have Your Cake and Eat it Too also gave me a sweet award:

Feel free to play along, you are all lovely Queens in my book!

let's review...

Last week I finished Mating Rituals of the North American WASP by Lauren Lipton. LOVED this book. Before I started reading the title made me think the characters would be these over the top snarky characters and I didn't know if I would be able to get into it. But its totally not that way, it is a really sweet story and I really liked all the characters. A Vegas marriage soon becomes a lucrative opportunity for a New England WASP desperate to get out the family home and business and a small business owner from NYC desperate to make rent. You will fly through this book believe me. Anyone else a little sad when they finish a book they really like??

Vacation Pictures!

This is Duff from Ace of Cakes--he was delivering a cake made to look like an Old Bay canister, as Old Bay was celebrating their 70th anniversary at this game. There was a Old Bay mascot and free crab mallets given out to the first 10,000 fans. (Old Bay originated in Baltimore--this fact makes all of this make a little more sense)

Yummy Treats!

Whenever I go visit friends its fun to see what kinds of treats they have in their pantry/refrigerator. When I visited S--she introduced me to 2 yummy, healthy treats.

Laughing Cow Spreadable Cheese--Light Swiss: 35 calories, 2 g fat per wedge. SO YUM-O on crackers and even on a sandwich!

Arnold Sandwich Thins--Whole Wheat: Great alternative to sub rolls or other breads that we all know have too many carbs but love anyway. These only have 100 calories for both pieces and are really good (this is coming from the carb queen people).

So next time you're in your local grocery store--check these out lovelies!

Back in Business

I'm baaaack! Well to be truthful, I've been back now for a couple days but its taken that long to get through my reader and get settled back in. My trip was so wonderful and I had just the best time with bff S--we shopped, saw old friends, took in an O's game and lazed around enjoying each other's company. Pictures will come sooon, I'll probably do a picture only post later today.

The first day we hung out, got pedicures, bff S took me to dinner for my birthday (which was the day before) and then we went to a local bar where I am not kidding when I say I saw everyone I went to Elementary and Middle School with. I loved it because I hadn't seen most of these people in 8-10 years. Day two was shopping day and we shoped 'til we dropped--post coming on cute purchases. Day three was O's day! We were celebrating bff S's dad's birthday so we went down to Canton in the afternoon, stopped by Cakelove to get cupcakes for the celebration and then it was on to Camden Yards! Seats were great, enjoyed some Boog's BBQ and the O's won! (Sidenote: funny thing happened in the 7th or 8th inning: grouchy patron in front of me turns around says to me "Do you think you can be quiet so we can enjoy one inning?" Really?! It's a baseball game, not an opera). Sunday began with a delicious brunch at Blue Moon Cafe in Fells Point and then a walk around Harbor East. Later in the day we went to a friend's gradution party and had dinner at my fave pizza place in Bel Air. Monday was our last day so we just ran errands around town and drove by my old house before heading to the airport. It was such a great trip and I am so glad I got to visit once again this year. I never take for granted my trips to our old hometown and Baltimore because I know one day our visits may not be in MD but in Anytown, USA. Obviously the important thing is that we get to see each other and it doesn't matter where, but I do love the fun and nostalgia of visiting all of our old haunts.

I am caught up on all of your activities while I was away but excuse the lack of comments as it was quite a lot to get through!

Happy Thursday!

Stella Strikes Back.

Here's how my evening unfolded.

While surfing the internet, I notice Stella is mysteriously absent. A few minutes later she come careening into the living room. I find this highly suspicious. After a minute, I get up and walk toward the bedrooms to see what she may or may not have gotten into. This is what I find:

Under normal circumstances, this would be not good. However, this belongs to my sister, which means this is really not good.

Aunt Coco (said sister) was, luckily, out for evening and I made an emergency trip to Best Buy on behalf of Stella. In order to avoid any unpleasant scenes, I purchased one of these:

And now despite the mischievous escapades of this little girl:

Order has been restored.

Today's Deals and Steals (and one FAIL)

Today has been super productive so far. The fact that Sella woke me up really early today is totally paying off. I have exercised, run numerous errands and met my man for lunch! Here are the deals, steals and one FAIL.

Deals and Steals:
  • Saved over $2 on Stella's dog food by using my rewards card at PetSmart
  • Saved $6.50 on my Aveeno moisturizer by leaving Ulta and going to get it at Target where I found the Target brand version of said moisturizer.

FAIL
  • Took 3 bags of clothes to Plato's Closet to sell and they did not take ONE thing. Not one. Which I find ridiculous becuase at my Plato's Closet (yours may be different), I would not buy hardly any of the clothes in there, but they tell me that some of mine are "too worn", "old labels", "old styles." On to eBay I suppose...

Hope your Tuesdays are terriffic!

Going to Baltimore Hon'

Good evening blogging beauties...

Once again, almost another week has passed since my last post. I have no excuses--I'm just lame. Last week was exciting though because I booked my trip to visit bff S in Charm City! I can't wait!! I'm so excited. I love every part of the trip, even driving into the city from the airport. Do you have a place you love to visit because it illicits such great memories and warm feelings? Baltimore is one of those places for me! I lived there for 6.5 years and have nothing but fond memories of my time there. The second day I'm there is bff S's dad's birthday and me, S and her dad are going to see the O's play!! WOOO :) My trip begins next week, the day after my birthday so it should be quite the week complete with celebrations with family and friends (bff Ashley Brooke and I were born one day apart and we will most def. be celebrating together!)

I hope your weeks are all off to a terriffic start ;) In the meantime, I am watching the bachelorette and I wish there were fewer bachelors so I could start telling them apart. Here's hoping tomorrow brings lunch with the bf and crossing things off my to-dos.

goodnight.
