It's First Debate Friday

To all of my politico pals, don't forget about the debate tonight! It starts at 9 p.m. on a variety of channels I'm sure. I know I'll be watching :)

Fall Preparations

Autumn is in the air friends! I'm looking for a few things to complete my transition into fall.

1. Harvest scented candle from Yankee Candle
2. A cinnamon broom
3. Extra time for baking yummy fall goodies
4. Long cardigans in every color
5. A fabulous pair of ankle boots

I'll let you know how my quest for these essentials goes ;)

Is anyone else freaking out about the economy?? Most of the time I find the media to be alarmists in nature but even I'm worried now. And as someone graduating from college in less than three months, I'm terrified there will be no jobs to be had! Luckily I'm still gainfully employed by The Primrose Shop and at least I know my future there is bright :)

Yesterday mumsy bought the Sex and the City DVD! I can't wait to see it again--it's like watching your favorite tv show for over 2 hours. (Which I will be doing tonight when I watch the Greys premiereeee)

Happy Thursday!

Just Another Manic Monday...

OK so I find myself let down whenever my favorite bloggers neglect to post for days on end so I apologize to those of you who read my blog as I have been MIA since last Sunday!

So after a weekend jaunt to Tally which was marked by a visit with sis and an unfortunate experience at Doak S. Campbell Stadium, I'm back. With the exception of the football disaster (thanks to my gator friend Lauren for her sympathy this morning, as most gator friends mock me-lol) the weekend was great-a little shopping in Tally, a drive to GA for the cousins' football game and some quality family time.

I'm so excited for the return of many fabulous shows this week. Gossip Girl, though its already started back is on tonight and is quite honestly my television heroin, although I do not like or really understand the whole Serena/Dan breakup. Dancing with Stars begins tonight, which I embarassingly admit to loving. Thursday Grey's is back for TWO hours! And the piece de resistance, Brothers and Sisters and Desperate are back Sunday!! B & S is one of my absolute favs and I'm so excited for the Rebecca and Justin pay-off we've been waiting for.

So I know most of you are pros at this but as someone new to the etsy phenomenon, I am officially addicted. Look at the three cute shops I came across this evening!

Lou and Lee
: I love these precious flower inspired headbands that come in kid and adult sizes

The Pebble Collection: Super affordable pretty jewelry, very simple. I want every single cocktail ring!!

Charlie and Sarah: Adorable preppy appliques- I want this whale hoodie and whale tee so badlyyyy

talk soon.

Baltimore Love...

After living in Baltimore for 7 years, it is one of my favorite cities and I eagerly anticipate my visits to BFF SLB every year! I am reading an awesome book set in Charm City itself! It's "In a Strange City" by Laura Lippmann, a Baltimore native whose series of novels center around Tess Monahan, a private investigator living in where else? Baltimore. I read excitedly looking for references to Matthew's Pizza, Fell's Point, and the Enoch Pratt Free Library...sigh.

I hope everyone had an awesome weekend--mine was lovely if worked filled. I'm really looking forward to this week because I"m going to Tallahassee to visit sissy and go to the FSU v. Wake Forest game!! Yay!

The Brit is Back!

OK so the VMA's were a you tube video gone wrong--where were they the Leon County Civic Center?? BUT Brit was back and she looked fabulous!! She won three moon men and up staged the whole show which was mediocre at best, save for a few clutch performances.

Funny story from interning today. I type the word biotech into thesaurus.com and the search return asks did you mean bitch? hahaha.

Enjoying Gossip Girl--xoxo

Weekend Recap

I hope all of you had a fabulous weekend even if we aren't all ready for another Monday. This weekend was full of fun! Friday night we all went out for Cassie's birthday--dinner at CPK, dessert at sweet! and downtown to Eye Spy and I Bar. It was a really good time even if my feet were yelling at me by the night's end.
Saturday was game day as the post below explains and it was over to UCF for some tailgating fun.

We pitched our tent and braved the oppressive heat. I didn't have a ticket which was probably a good thing because had I sat through that game all evening long only to lose in overtime I would not have been a happy camper. I'm still not because anybody can tell UCF was robbed but that's neither here nor there. The seminoles however came up HUGE! 69-0!!! As a life long Florida State fan it has been many years since we've put up points like that. The only downer was I was straining to hear the play by play on the radio and trying to pick out information in between static and salsa music. I thought I had found the game on espn360.com only to set up this elaborate tv plugged into a computer situation and find the game was blacked out even on the website. Thank goodness for Sunshine who will replay the game tonight at 7--CAN'T WAIT!! Lastly, the class-less Gators held true to form when with 25 seconds left and having all but beaten Miami, they decided to kick a field goal for the final nail in the coffin. I can't believe they would do that, but then again I can ( for those of you who find this hypocritical considering FSU put up 69 pts., keep in mind we played two QBs and were playing Western Carolina--and most importantly that I hate the gators and have the lifelong allegiance mentioned above.)

Until next time!

It's Game Day

What's better than college football Saturday?? Nothing my friends, nothing at all. So once again I am ticketless for the UCF game- damn that lottery. But I plan on tailgating my little heart out and coming home later for updates on my Seminoles as they take on W. Carolina with Christian Ponder at the helm :) And although I dislike Miami and Florida when forced to choose one I say goooo canes!

McCain/Palin '08

After watching Sarah Palin's speech I had to do another post, but just a quick one I promise.

I heart Sarah Palin. Her speech was everything I hoped it would be. She was inspiring, graceful and poised. She was funny and spoke with sincerity--I can't wait to vote for her.

Honest to Blog?

OK, so between moving little sis, starting my last semester and preparing for my new internship I have neglected to comment on all of the political hulabalu that has been happening the past couple of weeks. So here are my thoughts on the DNC, McCain's VP pick and the RNC:

The DNC: Lots of hype going into the convention especially after Obama's sound VP choice Joe Biden. As a registered Republican I don't mind telling you I tuned in every night. I enjoyed watching all the speeches even if I didn't agree with all the content. The convention was exciting, full of energy and hopeful anticipation.

McCain's VP Pick: I admit, at first I cringed slightly. The announcement of Sarah Palin as John McCain's running mate led to voices in my head whispering "who is she?" and "he just lost the election." But then after hearing her pseudo acceptance speech in Ohio my inner spice girl let out a shout of girl power! Though dems may argue her lack of experience is comparable to the GOP's biggest problem with their own candidate, she has governed a city, a state and been commander of the Alaskan Nat'l Guard. Now that the choice has been made all of those questions steeped in double standard-ness are surfacing. "Can she be an effective VP and a mother, especially in leiu of her daughter Bristol's preganacy?" The problem with that question is it would never be asked of a man running for VP. "Can he govern and be a present, responsible father? " Please. With everyone talking about Hil's 18 million cracks in the highest of glass ceilings isn't it ironic that other women are chastising Palin and essentially telling her to go home and take care of her family? Even the most smothering of mothers can't be by her 17 year old daughter's side all the time and that doesn't make her a bad mother or a poor potential VP.

The RNC: Unlike the Democratic National Convention, there is little anticipation and excitement, except for that surrounding the media's sensationalizing of Bristol Palin's pregnancy. That and Gustav have grossly overshadowed the convention. Hopefully Palin's speech tonight will energize the convention and the party and put the emphasis back where it should be.

I'm off to tune in- internship day 1 was fabulous!
Thanks for reading!

Spotted: S and B back in business

Gossip Girl was amazinggg- so glad my show is back. I can't wait for the rest of the season :) Though Dan and Serena seem to be back on track, I have a feeling the writers may be stringing us along... (Tonight could result in me becoming addicted to another show if 90210 lives up to the hype.)

Tomorrow is Day 1 of my new internship and I am so excited. I got a new dress this weekend to wear on my first day. It's Matty M and I think it will be super cute with some black flats and pearls.

I'll check in tomorrow and let you know how everything went. Thanks for reading :)
